Painting
The need for an MA grew out of an urgent need to create R&D and post-graduate studies in specifically artistic subjects taught by the institution.
University of Porto — Faculty of Fine Arts’ MA in Painting plans to devote itself to furthering undergraduate Fine Arts teachings in Painting, whether theoretical of practical. It possesses a practical-theoretical and theoretical edge. This MA in Painting is also a result of artistic practices directly connected with pictorial phenomenology, separate from the greater or smaller specificity of contemporary art’s inhabited grounds.
A research epistemology in Painting presupposes a meditation on knowledge and invention, both practically as well as theoretically in painting as doing.
The MA in Painting’s main goal is to further coherently and consistently all purposes and strategies listed in the University of Porto — Faculty of Fine Arts’ 1st cycle Fine Arts course. The MA in Painting demands personal research drive from each student and is particularly suited to candidates whose CV, preparation and preliminary research project fit the MA Committee’s guidelines.
